Biker Jacket - from a store in Camden (don't remember the name) // Dress - Next

Feeling like I'm going back to my 10th grade, when I bought this biker jacket in Camden and felt badass as f*ck. I remember wearing it everyday until it started breaking at the seams and I had to fix it. In the meantime my style suffered some alterations, therefore my once favorite jacket remained still in my wardrobe for a while. 

Two weeks ago I finally got the courage to pair it with one of my autumn must-haves: a black, tight dress. Turned out to be a huge success and appear in some photos for my friends' school project.

Sometimes recovering some of your old clothes can be even better and more refreshing than buying new ones!

First post since I've changed my header (yeah, I have been a really bad blogger, because my schedule is as tight as it can be and school work haunts me. Bah.) Meanwhile I've been running around in my new stuff, such as my super comfy boots for 2 euros, my super warm coat from Zara and last but not least, my silky, soft bomber.

Bomber Jacket - Ted Baker // Sweater - Thrifted // Pinstriped Trousers - Zara // Sneakers - Nike Free Run

Fall is finally here and I've already done some damage today, at our local Flea Market (more on that later). Meanwhile I'm wearing my same old uniform, spicing it up a bit by adding some pinstripes. 

Also, I must explain why I haven't been posting more often, simply because college has started, I moved to my grandparents and am now adapting to my new routine. Btw. my first work is to design two S/S outfits (men- or womenswear) and which better concept than sports/graphic? Lucky me!

Backpack - Eastpak // Dress - Zara // Sneakers - Nike Free Run 5.0

We can say this outfit pays homage to the amazing work of Francisco Costa as creative director for Calvin Klein - 10 years of pure genius. Nevertheless this was the little white dress I wore to my disastrous prom and the one I would love to wear without being worried about getting it dirty. As for this time I paired it with some sneakers and a black backpack, creating a contrast of styles, casual yet sophisticated. No one said I couldn't wear my prom dress with some Nikes and an Eastpak, right?

Crop Top - Stradivarius // Skirt - Vintage // Shoes - Marques' Almeida

The first time I wore this skirt, a Vogue freelancer approached me downtown asking if she could take some pictures. I had bought the skirt 10 minutes before for 2€, because it was so hot I couldn't bear wearing trousers. So, as you can imagine, the combination was as weird as it gets; picture a pleated skirt with an oversized white T-Shirt tucked in it and some Nike Free Run. As for this time, stepping up a notch was mandatory and what better solution than paring it with my beloved Marques' Almeida shoes, right?

T-Shirt - Primark // Pullover - Carolina Herrera (for only 5€, lucky me) // Trousers - H&M // Sneakers - Nike Free Run 5.0

Starting this post must have been one of the hardest things for me lately, meaning this especial hobby will suffer some changes. As you might remember I had (past tense) a boyfriend who was my photographer as well as my biggest motivation to keep updating. Now that it has ended, I'm trying to get my life back on track, staying as positive as I can (believe me, it's a struggle) and starting a fresh new chapter! You'll no longer see his photos, but the quality won't be compromised , as you can see. Rita was the first one to offer to help me and I'm so thankful for her patience, working with a perfectionist is a hard challenge. As for the blue-toned photos matching my pullover, they also accentuate this change of aesthetics, I'll now take more risks, wrap my pullover sideways, stand out for who I am and accept my flaws. 

Nonetheless my hair will also suffer an intervention, one I've been daring myself to make over the past year and a half, but never had the courage to. More on that later. And more on the new header I'm currently working on, too.

Although I know this might be a bit of a shock for you as it is for me, I hope you love the photos as much as I do and accept this change.

Crop Top - Sparkle & Fade (Urban Outfitters) from Re Invention // Skirt - Zara // Sandals - Zara

I'm finally enjoying my holidays! High school is over and I've recently received a diploma for my maximum score at my final work (a sculpture made of wool, which I will show you later). Meanwhile I've been hanging out in some fresh and functional outfits with some pieces that speak for themselves. Speaking of which, this crop top is, without any doubt, my favorite piece in my wardrobe at the moment, since it immediately elevates the elegance and sophistication of an outfit. Reminds me a bit of Balenciaga's F/W 13 rtw cracked effects. Thanks to Re Invention, I bought it for less than half of its original price. Oh how I love bargains!

Vest - Diana Matias // Crop Top - Stradivarius // Skirt - Lefties // Sandals - Filipe Sousa (for Eureka)

Where should I start? Maybe by bragging about portuguese talent, or should I say:  portuguese talented designers such as Diana Matias. Needless to say it is an honor to own a piece, especially when it is this vest offered by my beloved friends for my birthday. Yes, it was in April, still it's from a Spring/Summer collection, don't blame me for not liking how it looks with thick winter clothes underneath! Personal life apart, let me introduce you to Line (Spring/ Summer '13), a collection from which I would absolutely love to own at least 50% of the pieces, not only because of it's minimal and Wang-ish vibe but also because it's so pragmatic and casual yet sophisticated. Not to mention the zippers, structured cuts which let a small and controlled amount of bare skin visible, the lines drawn with zippers elongating the female body, powerful designs for a modern, urban woman. 

Since we're talking about lines, photographing this look demanded some cohesion, therefore me and my (super talented) photographer/boyfriend chose a wall where light and shadow, black and white, met creating a contrast. A vertical line divides the horizontal pictures creating a paradoxal statement and accentuating the symmetry and geometry of the vest, as well as its two vertical panels.

Shorts - Vintage Lacoste (thrifted, for 4e) // T-Shirt - Primark (Menswear Department too) // Shoes - Dr. Martens

Although I do believe in putting together a defensive and therefore strong type of (life)style, I do not stand for the superiority of women, but for gender equality. Having this said, my wardrobe is quite boyish, oversized and shapeless. Not that I'm worried about showing off curves (ok, maybe cause I don't have any), I'm just not pleased about the necessity of seducing.

Women nowadays depend on tight clothes, really short skirts, enormous cleavage, especially to show men their sexual potential. On the other hand, as you might have already noticed, I'm the complete opposite, meaning I like to face off men every now and then. Shock them maybe? Because seeing a girl adopting menswear as a first choice can be awkwardly disturbing for some machos. And vice versa. In case I feel like wearing something masculine, then I will, it's my choice, my body and it shouldn't be up for discussion either. There shouldn't be such rigid stereotypes and so much prejudice concerning "masculine" and "feminine". After all we are all human beings sharing our goods.

First of all, yes, I'm wearing color. Creamy, lilac, super cheap pants (1€, maybe this was the reason why I felt the urge to buy them). Enough about the pants, let me tell you how much I missed this place and taking some time off to update (don't hate me for my absence). In about 2 weeks I will (hopefully) have more time to dedicate to my little online baby. Meanwhile I'll do my best to make it up to you all!

First of all I owe you an apology! Back to daily stress and a hectic schedule. So many things going on at the same time: my birthday, my huge final project, tests,  the struggle to find some time to study, eventually sleep one hour per night… As you can see, keeping it simple and comfortable is essential, wearing (new) sneakers is a demand! Furthermore, oversized clothes are my soft spot, so now I have an excuse to wear them every single day, even though I end up looking quite boyish. Not the most flattering, I know. 

Now I've to get back to my usual work mode! I can already smell coffee. Nhami.

We all have our moments of laziness and lack of motivation, right? My body is naturally rejecting work with no success, because I can't let my huge "to do list" grow bigger. Meanwhile I've come to neglect my everyday looks by wearing the first basics I find in the morning while sleepy as hell. Must keep in mind: it's my last year!

White monochrome, what I wore to Portugal Fashion Day 3. I found this perfect white wool sweater the day before while cleaning up my atelier at school. Someone left it there between piles of paper and fabric. What a waste right? Couldn't believe my eyes when my teacher asked us if we wanted to keep it and I was like "Hell yeah, sure I do." I had been looking for an oversized, warm, white, wool sweater for ages and had never found the perfect one. Never thought I would get it for free during a cleaning afternoon! Sometimes it seems like a bit of luck really does exist. That sweater was waiting for me the whole time (not).
