Melitta Baumeister is a german fashion designer based in New York City, who presented her graduation collection at NYFW. Parsons just launched a future star, because unlike other fashion designers in the making, Melitta has the artistic sensitivity to merge different areas. Sculpture, architecture, objects, fashion and installation coexist in the same minimalistic atmosphere, where white is enough to transport us to the hellenic period. Nonetheless she applies and develops innovative techniques, maintaining her solid concept all the way through.

// Applying techniques from sculpture, architecture, and fine art, materiality becomes the conceptual core of my process. Casting a garment in one continuous layer of silicone questions conventional methods, which focuses on the development of the garment. This specific technique entails a shift of shape-defining factors. Shape is no longer determined through the interplay of fabric and pattern, but by the mold into which it is cast. The mold becomes the blueprint of a form and captures the essence of a garment without itself being the thing it emulates. The mold with its capability for endless repetition, then becomes a metaphor for the repetitiveness of the fashion industry itself. - M.B.

Spending so much time navigating through Tumblr has its positive side to it. I had reblogged the second image while thinking how incredible it would be if I could find the source (unfortunately it gets lost or deleted quite often). A week, or so, later someone sent me a link to a website, martinniklaswieser.com, and to my surprise, there it was. Martin Niklas Wieser in full glory, forcing me to "envy" him and his abnormal talent. This kind of cohesive and fresh collections should be promoted by the press, instead of wasting so much time with brands that are already known for years. Saturated fashion makes me look for new and promising designers whose support might not be the greatest. We shall take our time to admire Martin's phenomenal work and attention to details, as well as the exquisite photos (such awkward and beautiful poses, don't you think?).

T-Zion is the name of Elionai Campos' SS '13 collection and you might remember it from this post or maybe just because of my hysteria concerning it. The truth is, as soon as I saw the looks walking down the runway I knew I had to get my hands on them. So, Nuno and I decided it would be a great opportunity for both, and especially for him, to photograph the lookbook and the campaign for his final school project. And the answer, as you can see, was "yes!".  Needless to say it is always a pleasure to work with nice and talented people like Elionai. You'll be hearing a lot from her, that's for sure! 

Let's not forget about the photographer, right? And what a hell of a good one with a promising future ahead of him, since he keeps evolving and working hard to achieve his goals. As you can see, I have to work really hard if I want to be as talented as they are at such a young age! Keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe not, shall use them to sketch!

Where should I start? Maybe by bragging about portuguese talent, or should I say:  portuguese talented designers such as Diana Matias. Needless to say it is an honor to own a piece, especially when it is this vest offered by my beloved friends for my birthday. Yes, it was in April, still it's from a Spring/Summer collection, don't blame me for not liking how it looks with thick winter clothes underneath! Personal life apart, let me introduce you to Line (Spring/ Summer '13), a collection from which I would absolutely love to own at least 50% of the pieces, not only because of it's minimal and Wang-ish vibe but also because it's so pragmatic and casual yet sophisticated. Not to mention the zippers, structured cuts which let a small and controlled amount of bare skin visible, the lines drawn with zippers elongating the female body, powerful designs for a modern, urban woman. 

Since we're talking about lines, photographing this look demanded some cohesion, therefore me and my (super talented) photographer/boyfriend chose a wall where light and shadow, black and white, met creating a contrast. A vertical line divides the horizontal pictures creating a paradoxal statement and accentuating the symmetry and geometry of the vest, as well as its two vertical panels. 

   Second and last part of my resort '14 selection, so many great collections to choose from. Hard but necessary choices, if we want to be selective and develop a critical spirit from a young age. The ability to choose is not as easy as some might think, it requires meditation and control during the process. 

   Now back to where I started, hope these posts were useful and inspired you to create new outfits, for example. My awaited prom night is tomorrow, hopefully I'll be able to take some photos to show you, if not I'll definitely wear my dress again to post an outfit.

   First off, I almost had a heart attack yesterday, because my computer wouldn't start, but luckily I managed to finish the first part of the post. After seeing all the collections I decided to select my favorite looks. (As lazy as I am, summing up the best designs, seemed like a pragmatic and useful idea.)

    A moodboard, an inspirational research, a creative and visual stimulation perhaps, at least for me. Since we end up running out of ideas after a while, feeding our brain is mandatory, therefore I hope this post will provide you with some fresh nutrients.

My crush for Bassike is far from being recent, actually I try to let it go since everything is just way too expensive for my wallet. Undeniably dreaming of wearing every piece from this Pre Collection 13. Sponsors, anyone?

//Pros: the materials, the cut, the shapes, the fitting, the proportions, everything seems so right and timeless. 

//Cons: no money whatsoever to spend. 

Moreover I can't help myself from imagining how soft and buttery that leather must feel or how appropriate that bomber jacket and relaxed masculine pants must be for a long day at work. Oh well, it's already late as I'm writing this, better rush into my warm, little, comfy bed and fall asleep with unreal new purchases filling my closet and mind.

Coincidence or not it's my 80th post and Lacoste's 80th anniversary this year. I couldn't imagine a better way to celebrate it than with this breathtaking collection. And yes, I'm the ultimate Felipe Oliveira Baptista's fan, therefore my opinion is far from being impartial. The nationalist part of me is more than proud of this portuguese talent, who is conquering the international fashion industry day by day (hopefully one day it will be me, hehe). 

Now back to this masterpiece, I can't get enough of the icy theme, monochromatic palette, minimalist silhouettes, the contrast between baggy and narrow, between round shoulders and straight trousers or pencil skirts. A modern take on cotton piqué, leather and latex working as a sheath of ice over the icy prints. Felipe proves us that he really is the king of color blocking, maxi prints, sporty and minimal aesthetics. He knows what's flattering and effortlessly chic.

Common sense: Stockholm has one of the best street styles in the world.  Another fact is Stockholm Fashion Week brings unexpected and great minimal surprises every season. Autumn/ Winter 13 wasn't an exception. I could mention other names besides Altewaisaome, like Hernández Cornet or Alice Fine or even Whyred, but this brand, whose  name I have no clue how to pronounce, completely enchanted me.

Two creative feminine masterminds, "an eclectic mix of Scandinavian simplicity and international high fashion", a search for clean lines, monochromatic looks, neutral colors, attention to detail and it's only their fourth collection. We should have high hopes for their future and warn Wang about his swedish competition, since the collection is inspired by New York's diversity and their aesthetic approach is similar.  

We have got to love the oversized silhouettes contrasting with slimmer trousers or skirts and the rich green and grey tones.

Once again a chic, minimal, wearable, sporty and modern collection, which you can easily recreate with your own basic pieces. This is what fashion should be all about.

It's R.A.D H.O.U.R.A.N.I killing it! Sorry, I had to start this post by showing my enthusiasm! Now I will be honest with you guys, I'm not the biggest fan of couture, but I'm Rad's biggest fan for sure! Couture is this stereotyped fashion area, which you know is only suited (if so) for some kind of red carpet events or editorials. And for some reason designers tend to exaggerate and make over the top fairytale dresses. There are exceptions like Rad and Maison Martin Margiela, for example. 

Still, what I admire the most about this collection is that it is an uncommon (and unexpected) couture, the tailoring, the craftsmanship and fabrics are exquisite as they have to be, but at the same time I can picture myself wearing every single look! Not to mention the genius layering only Yamamoto and Tisci can do as well. He's a serious perfectionist, thinking about the entrance with the masks, being cohesive with his unisex concept and mantaining his aesthetics. Rad is unique, standing out in an industry full of clichés and fashion houses which are successful because of their big names, not because the creative directors are particularly talented. So far I can't point out a single flaw in Hourani's work, just qualities and kick ass minimal collections and photographs! He sure makes some of the big names in the industry envy/ hate him with such a majestic talent. A black and white powerful statement!

P.S.: He never studied fashion, now imagine if he had.

Is there anything else to add? The collection speaks for itself. Let's just cross our fingers and hope his Balenciaga era exceeds all our wildest expectations. Is it too much to ask for this young designer? I'm curious! What will he come up with next? This wooden staircase sure represents he's moving up!

     Besides Felipe Oliveira Baptista, Elionai's show was definitely my favorite. The collection should have been presented on the main catwalk and not at Espaço Bloom! Yeah, the quality was that high. I couldn't believe my eyes! What a pleasant surprise. I had already seen other works by Elionai, but nothing like this one. It blew my mind out. So consistent, mature and with an incredible, almost haunting, sense of aesthetics. The fabrics were the right ones, the hair and the shoes matched the collection perfectly, and yes, I would pay to have a piece from it. The different layers, textures, clean look, structured, but at the same time delicate clothes... just perfect! This is modern, this is how fashion should look like, this is what I expect to be doing in a couple of years. Truly inspirational!
