You will need:

• a beanie (I bought this one at H&M for only 3€)
• rubber mesh like the one you put under the carpets, so that they don't slip
• scissors 
• needle and thread

As I think you already know, I'm an art student, but this definition is pretty vague. I've been studying at Escola Artística de Soares dos Reis (feel free to google it) since my 10th grade. I'm now in my last year and it's kind of obvious that I chose textile art (what a surprise ahaha). My point is, it was during a class that I came across this odd material and decided I had to do something with it. Needless to say I was wearing my black beanie that day and BAM! idea. I ran downtown to buy some of this rubber mesh and ran to a shopping center to buy some sort of really cheap beanie for my experiment. 

Follow my steps:

1. Draw the outline of the beanie on the rubber.
2. Cut it (doesn't need to be perfect).
3. Fix the mesh on the beanie with some pins.
4. Sew it with some black thread (I had to sew it by hand, because it didn't work with my machine).
5. Cut the extra bits of rubber, if there are any.
6. Enjoy your new graphic beanie!

I'm leaving tomorrow for Lisbon for the day, so if you spot a beanie like this you'll know it's me!

I was looking at all the Christmas gifts as I noticed some of the ribbons were really pretty. My instinct made me put one of them around my neck and *pliiing* new idea for a D.I.Y. An easy one, like I love. You can just tie them around your neck or sew a button on one of the extremities and cut a buttonhole on the other. Ready in less than 5 minutes and it causes a great visual impact!

You'll need:

• a pair of trousers;
• a scissor;
• a sewing machine;
• black sewing thread;
• an elastic band;
• an iron;
• patience;

1. Cut straight through a pair of trousers turning it into some biker shorts, which you can wear later with or without the skirt.

2. Cut the seam of the other half carefully, so that you end up with a rectangle when opened. Do not cut the previous seams on the bottom, there's no need.

3. Iron the two pieces and use the iron to mark the pleats on both sides as well. This will help you sew without using any pins.

4. After sewing, repeat the last process on the waist, leaving space for the elastic band. Sew the beginning of the elastic under the pleat and then close it up (don't sew the band, make sure it is loose underneath).

5. In the end try the skirt on and mark where it fits you and where to sew the end of the elastic. After sewing it you're ready to wear it!

It's really easy, you just need some creativity, time and patience. Now I'll figure out how to wear mine, do it yourself too!

    Every year I change my A2 art folder, because buying a new one is too expensive. This year I decided to change from black to white in order to identify my portfolio quicker among all the other black ones. Certainly almost no one will have it in white monochrome. It only took some patience to paint it and two spray cans from Leroy Merlin (10€). My folder looks new and has a great visual impact. Recycle your school material, you'll not regret it!

Two years ago I bought purple Dr. Martens, my first pair, but back then they fitted in my wardrobe. Nowadays they don't really match my color palette, so I decided to ask a shoemaker to paint them in black for only 10€. Here they are, looking perfect!

You'll need a pair of sweatpants (this ones were an old pair of mine, sadly they were too short) and a scissor. Mark the length you want your shorts to have and then cut them straight out.

Done. Easy.
